4. The Braidrr Platform
4.1 Nature of the Platform
Braidrr operates as a two-sided marketplace that connects Customers seeking Beauty Services with independent Stylists who provide those services. Braidrr is a technology platform and intermediary only. Braidrr does not itself provide Beauty Services and is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or any other aspect of the Beauty Services provided by Stylists.
The relationship between a Customer and a Stylist is a direct contractual relationship between those two parties. Braidrr facilitates that relationship but is not a party to the service agreement between a Customer and a Stylist.
Stylists on the Platform are independent contractors and are not employees, agents, partners, or joint venturers of Braidrr. Braidrr does not control the manner, method, or means by which Stylists provide Beauty Services.
4.2 Platform Features
The Platform provides Users with access to the following features, which may be updated, modified, or withdrawn at any time:
- Geographic proximity search and discovery of Stylists near the User's location;
- Stylist profile pages including portfolio photographs, service listings, pricing information, and verified customer reviews;
- In-app messaging between Customers and Stylists;
- Custom offer and quote functionality enabling Stylists to create itemised service proposals;
- Secure booking and payment processing via Stripe Payment Intents;
- Escrow payment protection holding funds securely pending service completion;
- Automated fund release to Stylists upon Customer confirmation or expiry of the release window;
- Dispute resolution services for qualifying transactions; and
- A Stylist partner and referral programme (the "Partner Network").
4.3 Platform Availability
Braidrr provides the Platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or free from errors. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time with or without notice.
5. Bookings and Appointments
5.1 Making a Booking
Customers may make Bookings through the Platform either via instant booking (where a Stylist has enabled this feature) or via the custom offer flow, in which a Stylist creates an itemised proposal which the Customer accepts. A Booking is confirmed when:
- The Customer has accepted the Booking or the Stylist's custom offer;
- Payment has been successfully captured by Stripe; and
- The Customer has received a Booking confirmation from the Platform.
Bookings are subject to Stylist availability. Braidrr does not guarantee that any particular Stylist will be available at any requested time.
5.2 Booking Obligations
Upon confirmation of a Booking, both Customers and Stylists assume the following obligations:
Customer obligations:
- Attend the appointment at the agreed time and location;
- Communicate any changes or concerns promptly through the Platform;
- Treat the Stylist with respect and professionalism;
- Provide accurate information about hair type, length, desired style, and any relevant health considerations; and
- Release payment upon satisfactory completion of services.
Stylist obligations:
- Attend the appointment at the agreed time and location;
- Deliver services consistent with the agreed scope, price, and portfolio representation;
- Maintain appropriate standards of hygiene, safety, and professional conduct;
- Communicate any changes, delays, or cancellations promptly through the Platform; and
- Hold any required professional qualifications or licences applicable under English law.
5.3 Cancellations
Cancellation by Customer:
- Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the appointment start time: the £4.99 Booking Fee is retained as a non-refundable processing fee, plus 25% of the remaining Booking Value (service and travel). The balance is refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment start time: the £4.99 Booking Fee is retained, plus 50% of the remaining Booking Value, to compensate for lost earnings. The balance is refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
- No-shows (failure to attend without cancellation): 50% of the Booking Value is forfeited. Stylists retain their portion net of Transaction Fee where applicable.
Cancellation by Stylist:
- Cancellations by Stylists at any time before the appointment: the Customer receives a full refund of all amounts paid, including the Booking Fee. Stylists who cancel repeatedly may be subject to account suspension or removal from the Platform.
- Stylist no-shows: the Customer receives a full refund of all amounts paid, including the Booking Fee. The incident is recorded against the Stylist's account and may result in suspension or removal.
6. Payments, Escrow, and Payouts
6.1 Payment Processing
All payments on the Platform are processed by Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor. By making or receiving payments on the Platform, you agree to be bound by Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com. Braidrr does not store or have access to full payment card details. Accepted payment methods include major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Available payment methods may vary and are subject to change.
6.2 Escrow
When a Customer makes a Booking, the Booking Value is captured by Stripe and held in Escrow by Braidrr. This means:
- The Stylist does not receive payment until the service is confirmed complete;
- The Customer's funds are protected and can be refunded in the event of a Stylist no-show or qualifying dispute;
- Braidrr holds funds as an intermediary and not as a financial institution. Funds held in Escrow do not accrue interest.
Funds in Escrow are released to the Stylist's Connected Account upon the earlier of: (a) the Customer confirming service completion through the Platform; or (b) the expiry of a 48-hour window following the scheduled appointment end time, provided no dispute has been raised.
6.3 Booking Fee (Customers)
Braidrr charges Customers a flat Booking Fee of £4.99 on each Booking. The Booking Fee is added to the Customer's checkout total and is displayed before payment is confirmed.
The Booking Fee is a processing fee. Where a Customer cancels a Booking, the Booking Fee is non-refundable and a cancellation deposit also applies as set out in Section 5.3. Where a Stylist cancels or fails to attend, the Booking Fee is refunded in full with the rest of the amounts paid.
Booking Fee amounts are subject to change. Braidrr will provide reasonable notice of any increase in the standard Booking Fee.
6.4 Transaction Fee (Stylists)
Braidrr deducts a Transaction Fee from each completed Booking, calculated as 5% of the service price plus any applicable travel fee. The Transaction Fee is deducted automatically upon release of Escrow funds. Stylists receive the service and travel amounts less the Transaction Fee and applicable Stripe processing fees.
Transaction Fee rates for specific Stylists may differ pursuant to the Partner Network programme described in Section 13. Braidrr will provide at least 30 days written notice to Stylists of any increase in the standard Transaction Fee rate.
6.5 Payouts to Stylists
Following deduction of the Transaction Fee and applicable Stripe processing fees, net proceeds are transferred to the Stylist's Connected Account. Payouts to UK bank accounts are typically processed via Faster Payments and arrive within 2 hours of release. Braidrr does not guarantee payout timing and is not liable for delays caused by banking institutions, technical failures, or circumstances outside its control.
Stylists are responsible for all applicable taxes on income received through the Platform, including but not limited to income tax and National Insurance contributions. Braidrr does not provide tax advice and strongly recommends that Stylists seek independent professional tax advice.
6.6 Refunds
Refunds are issued in accordance with the cancellation policy set out in Section 5.3 and the dispute resolution process set out in Section 7. Refunds are processed to the original payment method. Braidrr does not issue cash refunds.
Braidrr will use reasonable endeavours to process refunds promptly but cannot guarantee the timing of funds appearing in a Customer's account, which is subject to the Customer's bank's processing times.
7. Dispute Resolution
7.1 Raising a Dispute
If a Customer believes that Beauty Services were not delivered in accordance with the agreed scope, or were not delivered at all, the Customer may raise a dispute through the Platform within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment end time. Disputes raised after this window will not be eligible for Escrow-protected refunds.
To raise a dispute, Customers must provide through the Platform:
- A clear description of the nature of the dispute;
- Evidence supporting the claim (photographs, messages, or other relevant documentation); and
- The outcome sought (full refund, partial refund, or other resolution).
7.2 Dispute Investigation
Upon receipt of a dispute, Braidrr will:
- Freeze any Escrow funds related to the disputed Booking;
- Notify the Stylist of the dispute and request their response within 48 hours;
- Review all evidence submitted by both parties; and
- Issue a determination within 72 hours of the dispute being raised.
Braidrr's determination shall be final and binding on both parties, subject to any rights under applicable consumer protection law. Braidrr acts as a neutral arbiter and does not guarantee any particular outcome.
7.3 Chargebacks
If a Customer initiates a chargeback with their card provider without first using Braidrr's dispute resolution process, Braidrr reserves the right to suspend the Customer's account pending investigation. Braidrr may contest chargebacks on behalf of the Platform and provide evidence of the transaction and any relevant communications to the card provider.
8. Content and Intellectual Property
8.1 User Content
Users may upload, post, or transmit Content to the Platform, including portfolio photographs, profile descriptions, reviews, and messages. By submitting Content, you grant Braidrr a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such Content in connection with the operation and promotion of the Platform.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to all Content you submit;
- Your Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights;
- Your Content is accurate and does not contain any misleading information; and
- Your Content complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
8.2 Prohibited Content
You must not upload, post, or transmit any Content that:
- Is false, misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent (including photographs that do not represent your own work);
- Is defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory;
- Violates any applicable law or regulation;
- Infringes any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- Contains viruses, malware, or other harmful code;
- Is sexually explicit or pornographic; or
- Constitutes spam or unsolicited commercial communications.
Braidrr reserves the right to remove any Content that violates these Terms at its sole discretion, without notice.
8.3 Braidrr Intellectual Property
The Platform, including all software, design, graphics, text, trademarks, logos, and other content created by Braidrr, is owned by or licensed to Braidrr and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The Braidrr name, logo, and “Slay with confidence” tagline are registered or unregistered trademarks of Braidrr Ltd.
You may not use, copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any Braidrr intellectual property without our prior written consent.
9. Additional Terms for Stylists
9.1 Independent Contractor Status
Stylists are independent contractors and not employees, agents, or partners of Braidrr. Nothing in these Terms creates or implies any employment relationship, partnership, agency, franchise, or joint venture between Braidrr and any Stylist. Stylists are solely responsible for determining their own hours, methods, and manner of work, and for all tax obligations arising from their earnings through the Platform.
9.2 Professional Standards
Stylists agree at all times to:
- Maintain the professional skills and standards represented in their portfolio;
- Comply with all applicable health, safety, hygiene, and professional standards;
- Hold any professional qualifications, licences, or insurance required by applicable law;
- Represent their services, pricing, and portfolio honestly and accurately;
- Not use photographs or portfolio content that is not their own original work; and
- Treat all Customers with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
9.3 Off-Platform Transactions
Stylists are strictly prohibited from soliciting or accepting payment for services from Customers met through the Platform outside of the Platform's payment system ("Off-Platform Transactions"). This prohibition applies for a period of 12 months following any introduction made through the Platform.
Off-Platform Transactions deprive Customers of the protection of Braidrr's Escrow system and dispute resolution services. Evidence of Off-Platform Transactions may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal from the Platform, forfeiture of any pending payouts, and may give rise to a claim for damages.
9.4 Portfolio Authenticity
Stylists represent and warrant that all photographs and portfolio content uploaded to the Platform represent their own original work. Uploading photographs of another stylist's work and representing it as your own constitutes fraud and is a material breach of these Terms. Braidrr may verify portfolio authenticity at any time and may remove any Stylist account where fraudulent portfolio content is identified.
9.5 Insurance
Stylists are strongly recommended to maintain appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Braidrr does not provide insurance cover for Stylists and is not liable for any claims arising from the provision of Beauty Services.
10. Reviews and Ratings
Customers may submit reviews and ratings following completion of a Booking. Reviews must be honest, based on the Customer's genuine experience, and comply with the Content standards set out in Section 8. Braidrr reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these standards.
Stylists may not offer incentives for positive reviews, threaten Customers in connection with reviews, or submit fake reviews. Violation of this provision is a material breach of these Terms.
Braidrr does not endorse any reviews submitted on the Platform and makes no representations as to their accuracy or reliability.
11. Prohibited Conduct
You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations;
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or any third-party systems;
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform;
- Use automated means (including bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to access, collect, or use data from the Platform;
- Circumvent any security, access control, or verification measures on the Platform;
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse any other User;
- Engage in any fraudulent activity, including providing false information or manipulating reviews;
- Use the Platform to send unsolicited commercial communications; or
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software underlying the Platform.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
Braidrr collects and processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to such collection and processing.
Braidrr complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Users have the right to access, correct, delete, and port their personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing, in accordance with applicable law. Requests relating to personal data should be directed to privacy@braidrr.com.
Braidrr uses industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no data transmission over the internet or data storage system is guaranteed to be 100% secure.
13. Partner Network Programme
13.1 Programme Overview
The Braidrr Partner Network is a tiered referral and rewards programme available to verified Stylists. The programme provides additional platform perks in exchange for qualifying stylist referrals. Participation in the Partner Network is subject to the terms set out in this Section 13.
13.2 Tier Structure
All Stylists begin at the Verified Stylist tier with a standard Transaction Fee of 5%. Additional partner benefits are earned through qualifying referrals as follows:
| Tier | Qualifying referrals | Transaction fee |
|---|---|---|
| Verified Stylist | 0 | 5% |
| Growth Partner | 2 active | 5% |
| Community Partner | 6 active | 5% |
| Elite Ambassador | 15 active | 5% |
| Founding Stylist (closed) | By invitation | 5% |
Tier transaction fee rates are in addition to standard Stripe processing fees, which remain the responsibility of the Stylist's Connected Account.
13.3 Qualifying Referral Definition
A referral counts as a qualifying active referral toward tier progression only when the referred Stylist has:
- Completed full account registration and identity verification;
- Uploaded a minimum of 3 portfolio photographs;
- Maintained an active account for a minimum of 30 continuous days;
- Processed a minimum of £500 in Gross Booking Value through the Platform; and
- Not had their account suspended or terminated.
Referrals that do not meet all qualifying criteria within 90 days of the referral link being shared are classified as expired and do not count toward tier progression.
13.4 Geographic Bonus
Referrals that result in a Stylist onboarding and qualifying in a borough or geographic area designated by Braidrr as underserved (as published on the Platform from time to time) count as 1.5× toward tier qualification. Braidrr reserves the right to update the list of underserved areas at any time.
13.5 Six-Month Review
Tier status for non-Founding Stylists is subject to a rolling six-month review. If, at the time of a review, a Stylist's active qualifying referral count has fallen below the threshold for their current tier due to referred Stylists becoming inactive, suspended, or otherwise no longer qualifying, the Stylist's tier and transaction fee rate will be adjusted to reflect their current qualifying referral count. Braidrr will notify Stylists of tier changes by email.
13.6 Transaction Fee Floor
The minimum Transaction Fee rate for any Stylist under any tier or promotional arrangement is 5%. No transaction fee rate will fall below this floor under any circumstances.
13.7 Founding Stylist Cohort
The first 50 Stylists approved on the Platform who are designated as Founding Stylists by Braidrr are eligible for additional partner benefits upon reaching the Elite Ambassador tier through qualifying referrals. The Founding Stylist designation is permanent and non-transferable. The Founding Stylist cohort is limited to 50 members and is now closed to new entrants.
13.8 Programme Amendments
Braidrr reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Partner Network programme at any time. Where changes to transaction fee rates affect existing Stylists, Braidrr will provide a minimum of 30 days written notice. Changes to programme structure and tier thresholds may be implemented with shorter notice at Braidrr's discretion.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 No Liability for Services
Braidrr is a technology platform and intermediary only. Braidrr is not liable for any act, omission, injury, illness, property damage, death, or other loss or damage arising from or related to the Beauty Services provided by Stylists. Your sole remedy against a Stylist for any such claim is through direct legal action against the Stylist.
14.2 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Braidrr's total liability to any User for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total platform fees received by Braidrr from the User's transactions in the 12 months preceding the claim; or (b) £100.
In no event shall Braidrr be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, or loss of business, even if Braidrr has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
14.3 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Braidrr, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your provision or receipt of Beauty Services; (c) your breach of these Terms; (d) your Content; or (e) your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
15. Disclaimers and Warranties
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Braidrr does not warrant that: (a) the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; (b) any defects will be corrected; (c) the Platform is free from viruses or other harmful components; or (d) the results obtained from use of the Platform will be accurate or reliable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
16. Account Suspension and Termination
16.1 Termination by User
You may close your account at any time by contacting Braidrr at support@braidrr.com. Upon closure, your access to the Platform will be deactivated. Any pending Bookings or outstanding financial obligations must be resolved prior to account closure. Refunds of outstanding balances, if any, will be processed in accordance with these Terms.
16.2 Termination by Braidrr
Braidrr reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any User's account at any time and without prior notice in the event of:
- Breach of these Terms or any other Platform policy;
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal conduct;
- Off-Platform Transactions in violation of Section 9.3;
- Repeated cancellations or no-shows;
- Submission of false, misleading, or fraudulent Content;
- Any conduct that Braidrr reasonably believes poses a risk to the safety or wellbeing of any User; or
- Any other reason at Braidrr's sole discretion.
Upon termination, your licence to use the Platform is revoked immediately. Sections 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, and 18 of these Terms survive termination.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, save that Braidrr reserves the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you are domiciled. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law.
18. General Provisions
18.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and any other policies incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Braidrr with respect to the Platform and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
18.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
18.3 Waiver
Braidrr's failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
18.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms without Braidrr's prior written consent. Braidrr may freely assign these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets.
18.5 Force Majeure
Braidrr shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance arising from causes beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, government actions, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labour disputes, power failures, internet disruptions, or third-party service failures.
18.6 Third-Party Services
The Platform integrates with third-party services including Stripe for payment processing, our managed backend infrastructure for data management, mapping providers for location services, and others. Braidrr does not control these third-party services and is not liable for their availability, accuracy, or conduct. Use of third-party services is subject to those parties' own terms and privacy policies.
18.7 Notices
Notices to Braidrr should be directed to legal@braidrr.com or by post to: Braidrr Ltd, [Registered Address], England. Notices to Users will be sent to the email address associated with your account or posted as notifications within the Platform.
